confused about moon reader pro and calibre companion

Thanks. I uninstalled, re-installed and got out of that page. Unfortunately its very flaky and there is just way to much fiddling that needs to be done. I just can't find a good combination of backround and font. And it won't let me change the top margins, or the side. I got a black small popup when I click minus or plus but nothing changes and nothing in the black pop up. Not sure if its working right.

I think if you like fiddling over and over with settings, this might be a good app, but I just want to read and not spend hours saving theme after theme and just not finding what I want. . Maybe too many choices aren't a good thing, or the choices that are there are not what I need.
I just don't like any of the preset themes, which are the same as they were on the old app. I don't have a dark theme. Just day, night and some pro's.

I'll stick with the kindle app, it just looks good.

Wow, you weren't kidding. It looks great! I used your ES File ex tip to transfer the app w/o backing up. Worked perfectly!

You can use any picture or solid color for a background as for font you can use any font you want. Just add it to a folder called fonts on your Kindle Fire. You can change margins in Visual Options. Not that much has change on the app but UI and options have been moved around.

The Dark theme is for the UI and can be found on the left slide out menu The Reader hasn't really change much but everything else has.

I love Moon+ on my KF6. It's the perfect reader for me.

I use paperback background and Sala Sans which is the same font as Scribd with weight added in.

However you are quite right it seems the margins box shows blank when adjusting. Hopefully this will get fix soon. I may need to email the developer.

Wow, that does look nice. Is that paperback backround part of the app? They don't have names and I don't see that one there as far as I can tell. As to fonts, I'll have to figure out where the heck to get those. Maybe one day when I feel up to that.

And what color is your back round then. Its just so overwhelming with all the settings. I remember when I put the app o my Nexus, I spend literally a day totally frustrated trying to find a setting I liked. I tried every single font that is on the app, I tried to find a backround color but with all the settings, I either ended up with slightly pink, or slightly green.

Could never figure out which of the back rounds is best and what combination of back round color goes with what. And the fonts, none of them looked anything like the kindle app or even Scribd.

I need to be in a better frame of mind to figure this stuff out as I can already tell it will take me another day of fiddling.

But thanks for your help. Those apps just aren't made for folks like me that just have no clue about where to get fonts, how to do this or that and all that without a lot of headache.

But they do give many a lot of options they are asking for.

oops it Scala Sans sorry. I can send you the background just PM me. It's easy to make it look like a Kindle Sepia. I've got the codes. If you need those or Scribds color codes.

I have enjoyed reading all the replies to this thread. Much to learn! I bought and downloaded calibre companion directly from the amazon store and it works like a champ! I sideloaded moon + reader from my galaxy 8. I think it was also downloaded the from amazon store....I played around with it so much that now I am not sure which store it came from . But I have the free version, not the pro as I had thought. What would be the advantages of the paid version over the free? If it is definitely better, then buying it would be a good investment in my HDX which I plan to use for quite a while!!

I just wanted to let you know I am in touch with the Developer and they are looking into it. From what I can tell in his email it's a font color issue.
