There's only one store here that sells illegally imported HD. The authorized retailer here doesn't seem to plan on importing any Auras... I can order from Amazon, but once it gets here I have to pay our customs about the same price so that they would release it to me.

I meant the marketplace forum here on mobileread. Do they charge customs on privately-bought secondhand readers too?

Yeah. Everything has a customs fee. The only way to get around it is to send it through private shipping companies that takes more than a month before it arrives.

Especially with gadgets. Our customs here likes to charge "extra" fees for electronics. They're gonna make it look like you're importing to sell so they could tax the heck out of it.

which country do you live in???

just out of curiosity, i looked at my local classifieds and cheapest Glo is around $90 Cdn. i bought mine (used) for $70 with cover about 3 weeks ago.

would it not be more worthwhile to just get something you can actually get your hands on, like the Aura HD or H2O?

Sorry to tell you, but it does have a noticeable crack. The glass is a substrate, so it's below the outer layer of the screen, so it's not as easy to see, but it's definitely there. See the attached picture.

I can only find an HD here through a shady importer. But it costs around 230 USD. The only legally available model that's sold here is the Touch. But frontlight is a must for me.

And I live in the Philippines.

Update: I found a store online that sells the Aura in my country. And it's actually cheaper than the official price for the Glo here.

Just to clarify, the crack usually is not visible on the glass itself, since it often happens in a layer beneath the top. But visually you can see exactly where the crack is as twowheels said, you just won't be able to even feel any crack on the top layer of glass.
