I am pleased to report that JB HiFi has stock in-store well ahead of launch date! My store wasn't listed as having in-stock on the website, so I rang them up and it was in fact in stock, so make a voice call if the site is telling you there are none.

I now have mine in my hot little hands and it's a lovely piece of kit. Inspected in a dark room and I can see no screen defects. Mine is not particularly creamy - really more on the neutral-white side. More later, it's processing.

Phew, sherman, is it worth importing one from Aus or Canada at that rate? Or not? They're pricey here but not that pricy!

I went to my usual JB HiFi today, and they said they weren't in yet. But, I might call the other reasonably nearby one tomorrow.

Well, I just called JB HiFi in Erina and Tuggerah. Neither had them. Erina said they had 12 coming but didn't know when. Tuggerah didn't know but said they were usually at the end of the queue. Hopefully it will be by next weekend.

If I can't wait, I'll try Macquarie Centre as it's close to work, or break my commute in Hornsby.

Oh, and I've seen a report that someone got one for $189. All they did was ask for a discount.

A local(ish) store has just received stock, so I decided I might as well buy local. Will cost me a few more dollars, but will save me a lot of potential hassle, especially if I receive a less than perfect device.

Found one at my local JB's. $229.

However, they just had boxed ones, none on display. And the boxed ones need to be logged in to get past the login screen.

Apparently there is a Kobo rep who does this sort of thing.

I rang my local JBHifi and they've known for a while that 12 are coming, but still don't know when.

And kobobooks.com (Aus) is now showing that they're coming soon.
