It takes you out of a well-conceived and faithful* rendition of the story, with awesome songs. I don't think the Magoo schtick was very funny in its time and now it's borderline offensive.

The soundtrack was awesome and the cast had known stars. I watched Mr Magoo cartoons back then and they were alright; but I much preferred Rocky & Bullwinkle.

The Disney channel is showing Beethoven's Christmas Adventure. I knew there were a lot of sequels, but didn't know he'd gotten his own Christmas story.
