). I found that is better to "print" as .pdf the .xls sheet with the table that using the "Save as .pdf" Excel command. Because if you print the .xls with a resolution of 1200 dpi (or upper) results are unsurpassable. To do that I use the trial version of "pdfFactory" (this one prints as footnote a text that says that you are using the trial version of the program but since we only need the table in the page, it doesn't bother) with a resolution of 1440 dpi and also embedding all fonts (because of that way, Inkscape uses fonts instead of "paths" for the text in tables). Finally, don't forget (after selecting the table) to select (in the "File" menu) the "Document Properties..." command and in the dialog that appears, to select the option "Resize page to content..." Of that way, the svg image will content only the object we want and not the blank space surrounding (and of course, save the svg image as "Plain SVG" and not as "Inkscape SVG" so the svg image will be supported without troubles in Sigil, etc.)Regards Rubén Last edited by RbnJrg; 12-21-2014 at 08:45 AM. |

I use a high quality PDF with embedded fonts produced by Prince but as I selected Path (Chemin) namely "Objet en chemin", I got a look-alike font only on my plain svg.
How to make sure Inkscape will retain the embedded fonts? Edit: Thinking about it, maybe it would not be such a good idea to try to embed the fonts, because the file would be very heavy. Now I can have a full page table with 30k/40k which is quite good, even if the font is just average. Last edited by roger64; 12-21-2014 at 10:36 AM. Reason: edit remark |

You only must open the .pdf in Inkscape, select the table (just click on the center of it), next select (in the "File" menu) the "Document Properties..." command and in the dialog that appears, to select the option "Resize page to content..." and after that, save all as "Plain .svg". You don't have to convert the selected table to paths!; ok?Quote:
You'll see is the text is generated by path or not.By the way, can you post here the Excel sheet with your table? Last edited by RbnJrg; 12-21-2014 at 11:49 AM. |

I do not use Excel for Linux reasons. My PDF are produced by Prince (using a Jellby plugin) from an EPUB. These last ones have usually incorporated files. I'll post some svg tables soon, just the time to tune it up a bit.
