You mean that -fwo in: update-2531760037-fwo.bin may be significant?
As in, protection from the rename process?

are you referring to the side-load file?
I wget'ed that one Amazon server to my server, never (yet) seen by a Kindle.

Unfortunately, I don't *think* the filename's the key (that's the classic naming scheme for full updates pulled over OTA: update-<otatarget>-fwo.bin), but rather the fact that it got pulled down by the todo handler is what's making it immune to the rename...

I've done some checking of serial numbers etc. and the 2531760037 string doesn't have any relation to anything specific to my Kindle as far as I can tell. I assume it's a firmware build number or something.
Am presently at firmware 5.4.5 as I needed to run KUAL. Am holding off updating to 5.6 for the time being.

So if we could convince the todo handler to download and install our jailbreak package ....

Wait a minute, I think we can do just that, from the user storage (if the user has DNAT setup on their interface to the world's Internet) ...

@Minotaur: It's the semi-internal build number used to ID a specific version. It's serialized, but how they actually increment them is a mystery. But it is important .

That's the hash of the actual tarball inside the package (ie. header-less) . [And that's what the updater uses for its integrity check].
