I write as I do to avoid assuming any specific background.
So a lot of my answers are for both the current poster and for future readers who stumble on them, "out of context" as it where.

Our (contributing, not the just "fix my problem and leave" people) members cover a wide range of ages (from pre-teen to should have been dead already) and a wide range of education (from hobbyists to people with advanced degrees that teach the folks who will do this for a living).

There - one of the ugliest sentences I have written recently.

PS: Several of our most proficient pre-teens have recently discovered girls.
I expect they will be back when the novelty wears off.

Yes, seriously

, the only issue is to get further OTA (assuming you go to Lollipop) you'll have to unroot to get them as the OTA system has been updated to check all system files and only update them if they are correct, thus root breaks OTA.
But I'm rooted on the stock kernel on both a Nexus 5 and Nexus 4 running lollipop.

Don't be too upset. I'm desperately waiting for the 5.0.1 update for my N5 and N4 due to the battery issues on the N5 caused by the 5.0 build.

Plus it gives app developers time to adjust their apps to lollipop. There is a silver lining for you.
