Amazon recently changed the way they show prices for other sizes. Click "Add to Cart", then you can select he size and see the price. I hate doing it this way, because it involves additional steps.

This is just another one of Amazon's targeted offers. They want people to join Prime.

I guessing that they raising the price lost them a Lot of customers. I have a order I sitting on til dec. Figured I take advantage of the Prime Free Shipinmg while I could. Not 1 item is Free! tho several are direct from Amazon!

When does your trial period expire? Call and tell them you'd like to cancel because it's too expensive. Maybe they'll offer you the $40 promo?

I just got the $40 promo in a roundabout way. Big kudos to Nate; go to his blog for the steps:

Amazon Starts Black Friday Deals Early

First step, turn off auto-renewal

go here -- Manage Your Prime Membership
click -- "End Membership"
click -- "End Membership" one more time
click -- "End Later" (that's the date it's currently set to expire)

Now start buying

go here -- Give the Gift of Prime
select date you want Prime delivered to your inbox - usually day after current one expires
and yes, you can gift yourself
click -- "Add Prime to Cart"
select your qualifying Kindle and add to cart
then follow the usual purchasing steps
note: both items must be purchased together to get the $40 discount
note: the $40 discount will appear in the final ordering step

Both device color and storage capacity are chosen after adding to the cart. The 16 GB Fire 6 is $119, which is $20 more than the 8 GB version.

Actually, they split it up -- 55% for the Kindle and 45% for the Prime. Matters not, because I was renewing Prime anyway. So I'm taking it as a $40 discount on the 16GB Fire HD 6 I wanted.

Thanks for posting that! I was trying to figure out how to cancel auto-renew earlier today. I clicked on "End Membership" once and didn't go further because it looked like my Prime membership would be cancelled immediately instead of at the end of the one-year term.

I presume Amazon will send a message when the gifted Prime membership is about to expire since
