How much do cases actually protect a Kindle? For example, the official Voyage case still has the thin edge of the klindle exposed on three sides, and since its must a magnet holding the kindle in place it's not too much of a stretch to imagine the kindle becoming dislodged with a drop (I'm not about to test it!)

Thanks Harry.
I've always wondered if Amazon CS are a bit more lenient to those who were using a case in times of accidental damage. |

ImO Important in a case is that it should also protect your kindle from getting bent. I had my Kk in a "velcro sleeve" that did nothing to protect it from getting bent, so the screen broke 3 weeks after me getting it.
Amazon CS offered me a new one, kudos to them! Enzio, with Christmas around the corner and the Paperwhite on discount now in Europe, consider an upgrade! The lighted screen is really worth it IMO in a country where it is dark a quarter of the year round like Hungary... And call Kindle customer service, they might offer you a discount, although your kindle is long out of warranty. |

This is very true. My PW1 was out of warranty and they offered my a PW2 at a slight discount. I was told never to get rid of a broken device so you can use it to get a discounted refurbished newish one. In my case they offered a PW2. They send you a refurb and you send them yours.
