android app works really good. I borrowed a audiobook and also stored it on my phone. I was making sure they didn't have the be streamed. Everything works. This is neat.

Yes the app must be updated. It is now playing an audio book on my Nexus 7.'
Drat. Maybe I need an Android phone, now! |

Catlady, you aren't forced to use your phone. Anything that takes android, apple and fire apps works. What do you usually listen to audio books on? I am really new to them so I am going to borrow some I already read in paper and what to read again. Might be easier to train my brain to audio. I am still struggling with that. Its like my imagination gets turned off when listening. Its someone elses voice, not my own inside voice so its much harder for me to get into the stories. |

I ordered a AT&T Radiant refurb which has a 4" screen and runs Jellybean, I think. Not going to use it as a phone. Ordered a clip case for it, too. There goes my budget! But my girls can use it, too. Maybe I'll activate it for my daughter, eventually. If it lasts that long. I told her she could have a phone when she turns 13.
I'm so excited by Scribd's unlimited audio books, I could scream! Last edited by booklover6; 11-06-2014 at 01:51 PM. |

I'm the same way with instructions for things. Give me the paper or book and I'll figure out how to use everything. Show me how to do it and I won't remember much of anything. |

I am also more visually oriented, so I choose my audio books with care. I've listened to all of the Harry Potter books, all of the Rick Riordan Percy Jackson books except the last one (which just came out, and is on my player now). I've listened to quite a bit of romance suspense. I had, a year ago, attempted to read the first Harry Dresden book (by Jim Butcher) and didn't get far. I decided to check out the audio book, and I loved it! I plan to listen to as many as the libraries have. A good narrator can make a huge difference.

Anyone else notice that the listing of books and search is lacking? Some books say "available in text" in the audiobook when both is there, some don't even if both versions are in subscription scribd. Maybe a growing pain, but still annoying. Even books of the same author are not consistant - some linking between text<->audio and some don't. I found one audiobook listed twice by accident: The Blue Zone by Andrew Gross. The audibook linked to the text is the version with interview of author, the other version w/o interview does not say that there is a text version.
How many more duplicates are among the 30k books? And why do books get listed so often when a link to "see all versions of this book" would do. If you look through your library to check if the audiobook is available might give the wrong result. You would have to search specifically and go to the audio section to see. Frustrating so far - if it doesn't improve that would be number one reason to not even consider staying subscribed after the trial. I will probably just stick with only KU and not specifically look for audiobooks. |

One thing I hate about the Scribd site. When I'm logged in, and on the home page, and would like to scroll down to get to the FAQ, help section, whatever, the footer shows up briefly, and then the page loads more books, pushing the footer down out of reach again.
