Looks like the Windows libimobiledevice issue has been solved, now Windows successfully gets the same malformed database errors..

Anyway, ShellShock is now working on cracking that as well (and thinks he may have found the problem). The fix should work for OSX as well.
Great to hear, I'll watch the other thread and thanks for the information.

Angry Calibre does not talk to Marvin (or vice versa?)

Hi all. I had the same problem: Marvin connected fine to my previous iDevices, sending ebooks to my devices was a piece of cake, but on my new iPad Air 2 Marvin opens the Calibre connector and then all stops.

At first I had serious issues installing the IOS plug in (error message No module named PyQt4), after I installed the beta version of this plug in, then again the plug in via Calibre itself, I finally could configure the plug in (iPad via Marvin).

Still, Calibre does not "read" Marvin from my iPad, there are no buttons allowing me to link to my device.
And yes, I have updated all apps and programs to latest versions, and only 1 iDevice plugged in; running on Maverick - hesitant to go on Yosemite.

I am a (donating) fan of Calibre since it came on the market. My current work around to get books on my iPad are via Dropbox.

Hope help is on it's way. I have contacted the Marvin app designer, they refer me to Calibre...

The latest version of calibre, literally released a few hours ago (what a coincidence , calibre is released every Friday, about midnight Eastern Time, or Friday afternoon if you live in India), should have a fix for the malformed databases issue. The remaining libimobiledevice issue should be a Windows exclusive. See the post right above yours.

Make sure you have calibre 2.10.0 installed, not 2.9.0 which was the latest this afternoon.

Report back, on the other thread, if you still have problems. But it should be fixed -- as you say you are on Mac OSX.

Calibre 2.10.0 not talking with Marvin

Hi again. Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately the new Calibre 2.10.0 is already on my Mac and Marvin still does not communicate with Calibre, or vice versa: no connect to device button(s), not send to iPad option anywhere.

Marvin works fine with DropBox though, so at least I can keep on reading on my shiny iPad

Make sure you power cycle your IPad before attempting to connect Marvin and your Mac. Also run Calibre in debug mode (right click preferences button and choose restart in debug mode). Attempt to connect Calibre and Marvin. When you close Calibre, the debug log will be displayed; attach it here and I will see if I can spot a problem.

I just installed the new version of Calibre and it is still not recognizing my mini3. I did reboot the iPad before connecting and ran Calibre in debug. I've attached the debug file below.

In the Windows port of libimobiledevice, I fixed a bug whereby multiple devices were reported when only one was connected. This fix is not in the Linux version, and it could be the problem here. I suggest you go into the Calibre preferences and customise the iOS reader plugin to tick the two debugging check boxes, then repeat the test - restart Calibre in debug mode etc. Post the log here again - it should be a lot bigger this time.

Tried to do that but I get an error message when trying to modify the plugin. Here are the details:

@Mr Goodbar and @weyns1960 please can you raise this bug in the IOS reader plugin thread (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=241143), as that is probably closest to where the problem is. I have a theory as to what the problem is, but we need more evidence, especially the debug log. I have no idea what the ConfigWidget error is-- but seems like a problem with the Calibre installation.

Has anyone been able to get Calibre, iOS Reader Applications, and Marvin XD to work with an iPad Air 2? I've tried with each Calibre update since the iPad Air 2 was released, but it never works. I also just bought a new MacBook Pro and setup Calibre and the plugins. I was hopeful the clean start might resolve the issues. Everything synced up perfectly with my iPhone 6, but the iPad Air 2 isn't recognized at all. Thanks for any help!

Have you tried powering off all your idevices apart from the one you are trying to connect Calibre to? This test will rule out IOSRA trying to connect to the wrong device.

They weren't both connected at the same time, but I just tried powering off the phone with it connected to the computer to see if that would affect anything. Calibre still doesn't see the iPad Air 2. I should also mention that this is the second iPad Air 2 I've tried, and neither of them connected. I had to exchange my first for some weird issues, and this is the replacement. Both were tried with my old computer, but this new iPad is the only one I've tried to connect to this new computer. So I've tried two iPad Air 2's with two Macs, and none of them connected. Thanks again for any help!
