Understood. But I'm looking for a way to identify folders that contain nothing but a .opf file, a .jpg file, or both. There are probably a thousand of them.

I understand Library Maintenance will show me they're there.

Is there a way to say "select all folders that contain only X, Y, or X and Y" and remove them?

(I know I can do this outside of Calibre -- but I understand doing it that way will totally screw things up)

Fix the Library using the tool

Then: search formats:false <<-these have no books
deal with those

Then: search cover:false <<- these are Books that have no cover file

the OPF is maintained by Calibre DB changes for that entry

If you have such folders then the library is screwed up anyway. So remove them outside of calibre and then run the Restore Database - that will create a new database from what's left.

Of course, backup the library (in its current screwed up state) first in case anything goes wrong.
