Someone inform me when a well-written non-fiction text is offered gratis.

Most fiction, especially thrillers of any save the absurdist kind, leave me cold.

In general, am left wanting at the availability of non-fiction at ebooks.co--er...ebookstore.SONY.com. Self-help is just more speculation, and thrillers and romance do little for elder gods.

Self-help being non-fiction, could you be more specific about the types of non-fiction you DO enjoy? History? Biography? How-to books? Psychology? Medical Texts? Science Books? Math books?

Problem is, non-fiction doesn't usually come in series form, where reading one can convince one to read more. Also, unless the author's name is McCullough or Shaara, you aren't going to get much name recognition from the general public.

The only non-fiction books that tend to come out free are those where the author is more concerned about getting his point-of-view across than with making a profit.

Psychology books would ride that line between fiction & self-help gobbledy goo.

Not that I'm trying to offend anyone.

Personally, I like history, like Stephen Levy, science, like Michio Kaku's works, or Bill Bryson. Mr. Wilson's Where's My Jetpack? & [i] How to Survive a Robot Uprising [/] are phenomenal reads as well. Travelogues, like Theroux

In all honesty, I think that the hardest part of finding good books that I like at Connect is my frequent lack of internet access, and the abysmal performance of the software.

Longshot, there are some prolific non-fiction people out there. Lament the lack of non-fiction authors on Connect more than I do a dearth of free stuff.

How did you manage to get an HTML version of the free eBook? I would go for that easily.
