Yawn. Not everybody believes that those bugs that you concentrate on are quite as important as you appear to believe. Do you expect anyone to believe that a reviewer with very limited hands on time would have the familiarity with the hardware and firmware to even notice the bugs that you seem fixated on? That they would be sideloading epubs to the internal storage rather than simply downloading .kepubs from Kobo's site?

As for your suggestion that TNforPaul45 is a paid shill? Perhaps you have some proof to offer? Though with 58 posts in his years of membership, it's going to take some convincing that the payment would be worthwhile. Most of the potential shills I've run across in various areas tend to be quite prolific, the negative shills to even more of an extent than the positive shills. Sadly, your 455 posts would be a slow week for most of that crowd.

And yes, I went back to your first message which was a complaint thinly disguised as a suggestion that Kobo had not implemented all the features that you wanted -- no file browser, no subdirectory support, show all books the same size on the home screen (back in the carousel days). Almost every message you posted was a further complaint -- Kobo didn't support the @page and body tags as one example. I gave up after 53 posts where I could not find a single positive comment about Kobo and their products.

The general impression I got after browsing your messages was simple a lack of understanding why you bothered to own a Kobo product when in over two years, counting your positive messages about Kobo and their products would not require much in the line on numeracy skills.

Regards,
David

I can assure you that I am not associated with Kobo or its parent company in any way. It would be nice to get paid by them or anyone, since being a Graduate Student is not a profitable endeavor by any means. My tounge-in-cheek reply was only to point out that we should not bash good reviews, but welcome them, as we need Kobo (the ONLY Amazon competitor of any significance at this point) to break the Amazon monopoly on the market.

We are Kobo enthusiasts for a reason. We don't have to be paid for them to get excited about their products. That's Barnes and Noble's area (oooh....too soon?)

I'd also like to point out that this is a hardware review. kobo firmware is basically the same across all devices. If you want reviews about how well the annotations work then you should wait and get them from the like-minded people here on Mobileread.com.

The formatting of that book (or the settings) makes the H2O look actually worse then the PW2. More wasted screen space and formatting that's just plain awful. So bad in fact, that the formatting would get in the way of reading.

Just giving my opinion if I may? About the average reader discussion, I consider myself an average reader and I don't highlight, make notes, or sideload fonts (very happy with the standard ones), so I honestly have never encountered those bugs (or any other bug, actually... really!) and I wouldn't notice the review is missing those tests.
[I also love having header and footer like they are on kepubs, I'd be much more overwhelmed by a block of text filling the entire screen...]
All in all the H20 seems great, I like the improved screen, but I'm personally not going to buy it as I'm 100% satisfied with my HD right now and I don't need the water-resistant feature.

Same here....although I do use a side loaded font. I side load all my books as kepubs, too. I read a LOT, but never use annotations, footnotes, seldom use the dictionary. I don't recall noticing anything that could be called a bug while I am reading.

I am not sure if I will replace my HD with the H2O or not, yet. Waiting for more reviews and real user opinions. My HD is a beautiful device that works perfectly! Of course I'd love to have the H2O but I am not yet convinced that is a huge improvement over the HD. And the H2O is taller....I've yet to see it side by side with the HD to compare that. So I'll bide my time....

I know I'm in the minority, but I personally like the large margins and "wasted space" on the Kobo. I think it provides a cleaner look and allows me to actually read faster. Uh, no, it's not because I'm turning pages more often either.

I was ready to replace my HD if they had simply rolled out a successor that had a design similar to the regular Kobo Aura. I was really hoping that Kobo was going to use that design language for all their future devices, but I guess not.

That's my feeling too. My eyesight is probably a bit worse than average but lighted screens, extra white space, and adjustable font size and line spacing have greatly improved my reading experience.
