Nexus 5 error msg now when connected

That's an error sending a specific file to the root folder on the SD card on your device. Reformat your SD card as FAT32 and you should be fine. ANd note that calibre uses libmtp which is the exact same library used by everything else to connect to MTP devices on linux.

Well, I just tried to connect my Nexus 7 on Calibre 2.11 (multiple times) and I get the following error:

I even used my 'no fail cable'.

[EDIT] After several re-starts of my laptop and my Nexus 7, the connection problem disappeared.

Then I suggest using the wireless connection. Nothing I can do about libmtp failing to send files/delete files to the device. If you want to use MTP, then reformat the SD card or hard reset the device to reformat the internal memory.
