The Orthodox Study Bible is on sale for $4.99.
B&N Kobo Amazon

I've mentioned this before, but this is one of my favorites. The Old Testament is a translation of the Greek Septuagint rather than the Hebrew Masoretic text.

It's eligible for coupon codes at Kobo US. The coupon landscape is pretty sparse right now, but there are some 25% and 35% ones floating around.

Can someone school this newbie to ebooks on kobo coupons? I only have a kindle, so I imagine these codes are only good if you have a Kobo device, right?

No, Kindle users can take advantage of Kobo coupons (I used to do it for years before I got my Sony). But you'll have to be willing to strip the DRM (unless your chosen book is already DRM-free) and convert in order to read on a Kindle (though I notice you have a Kindle Fire, so maybe you'll be able to install an ADE-DRM-compatible ePub reading app?).

Anyway, Kobo coupons can be used on almost any eligible title in the Kobobooks.com store (allowing for a compatible store country, that is, as some coupons will only work in certain countries). You can see couponable titles in the search results by clicking "Items eligible for promo codes" in the sidebar, though sometimes this is glitchy and the filter lets through items it turns out you actually can't discount when you try, or perhaps it needs a code tied to a special promotion. Also, some coupons can only be used on a selected list of books, while others are more general use. Many codes are single-use only, but some can be used multiple times.

To use the codes, make sure to set up your Kobo account so that it uses the shopping cart instead of 1-click buying (this is a setting in your preferences). And to actually use them, it's as simple as "Add to Cart", going to the checkout, and near the bottom of the checkout you'll see a box in which to enter the promo code, which will give you an error message if your code is not applicable, or a warning if the book is not couponable at all.

A caveat: sometimes books are only available in the kepub format, or sometimes some sort of other Kobo-device-only format for certain academic titles. You may or may not be able to get one of the kepub-DRM-removing tools to work for you (I haven't managed it yet). Anyway, to check what format the book actually comes in, you'll have to "Save Preview" for the title, and then go to your account library to have a look under the listing to see what if any formats it's downloadable in. If it doesn't say either "ePub (DRM-free)" or "Adobe DRM ePub" next to the Download Options line, then you may wish to rethink your prospective purchase.

The dedicated Kobo coupons thread will have much more info and tips on making best use of the coupons, but these are the basics.

Hope this helps.

Adobe Digital Editions is needed to download DRM-protected ebooks from Kobo. There has been some discussion about new DRM with newer versions of Digital Editions (the Adobe site only has links to 3.0 and 4.0) and problems it might cause, but here is a direct link to Adobe Digital Editions 2.0 at the Adobe site.

If you're willing to remove the DRM, the books can be used with any device or app that supports epub. They are also then easily converted to Kindle format using Calibre.

DRM removal can only be obliquely discussed at MobileRead, but information can be found by Googling "Apprentice Alf". I will say, though, that the means to remove DRM can be added right to Calibre and if you're comfortable using computers, getting everything set up isn't particularly challenging.

Here are a few Kobo books that are always free, so you can try converting them to your Kindle or finding another satisfactory way to read them. I hope you can find a process that works for you.

Here are a few that are perpetually free and can be downloaded with Adobe DRM.
HCSB: Navigating the Horizons in Bible Translations
War and Peace
Paradise Lost

Update: If you do indeed have a Kindle Fire and don't want to remove the DRM, here is a link to instructions for installing Bluefire Reader on your Kindle Fire. Bluefire will read epubs with Adobe DRM.

When Matthias comes to just in time to save their plane from crashing into the sea, Peter puts the shocking discovery behind him—for the moment.

Certain Matthias is hiding something, Peter persuades Henrik Melchior to join him in spying on the man, and the friends witness a suspicious nighttime meeting with a foreign ship captain. What's worse, a mysterious stranger appears to be spying on Matthias, too.

Suddenly, Peter, Elise, and Henrik find themselves at the center of a dangerous plot. If Matthias is involved, are the Melchiors in danger also? If so, Peter may be about to lose his best friend!

Reborn to Be Wild: Reviving Our Radical Pursuit of Jesus
by Ed Underwood

Currently free at:
Quote:
Overview:

A long-time pastor ponders why the Jesus Movement stopped moving … and challenges all generations of believers to the radical commitment that fuels revival.
Long before becoming a pastor, Ed Underwood was a “Jesus Freak”—a young man transformed by the Jesus Movement in the 60s and 70s. He and his friends threw their hearts into a revival they thought would change the world. But somehow, the Jesus movement stopped moving. How did these radically committed young people morph into today’s tame, suburban evangelicals? That’s the question that sparked this passionate, provocative book, which aims at nothing less than fanning the flames of enduring revival today. Underwood draws on his personal revival experience and his study of the New Testament to expose six seductive lies that can easily sidetrack a movement and affirms five life-changing truths that can keep it going.

Road Blog by Robert Elmer, 6th in his HyperLinkz tweens/YA contemporary sci-fi-ish Internet adventure thriller series, originally out from Random House's Crown Publishing Group division's Christian-oriented Multnomah WaterBrook Press imprint in 2005.

Who knew getting lost could be so much fun—or so dangerous?

When the Websters leave Normal, Illinois, for a family holiday, Austin and Ashley get pulled right back into the World Wide Web—and this time, Mr. and Mrs. Webster get sucked into the Internet, too! What began as a relaxing getaway turns into a wacky road trip when they set out to find Lost Lake Resort. Soon, the Websters are stumbling through a long lineup of lost links, like LostKitty-dot-com, the Lost Sea Cave, the long-lost Inca city, and a lost round-the-world flight.

Ah, but this is no vacation, any more! Because the kids’ old rival Mattie Blankenskrean and her assistant Mr. Z still want to wipe out truth on the Internet, and a final showdown with the two drags the whole Webster family into real danger. Can the Websters escape Mattie and find their way back to Normal… before they’re deleted for good?

Blind Descent: Surviving Alone and Blind on Mount Everest by Brian Dickinson is currently free.
B&N Amazon

Quote:
Alone and blind at 29,000 feet!
Former Navy rescue swimmer Brian Dickinson was roughly 1,000 feet from the summit of Mount Everest—also known as “the death zone”—when his Sherpa became ill and had to turn back, leaving Brian with a difficult decision: should he continue to push for the summit, or head back down the mountain? After carefully weighing the options, Brian decided to continue toward the summit—alone. Four hours later, Brian solo summited the highest peak in the world. But the celebration was short-lived. After taking a few pictures, Brian radioed his team to let them know he had summited safely, and got ready to begin his descent. Suddenly, his vision became blurry, his eyes started to burn, and within seconds, he was rendered almost completely blind. All alone at 29,035 feet, low on oxygen, and stricken with snow blindness, Brian was forced to inch his way back down the mountain relying only on his Navy survival training, his gut instinct, and his faith. In Blind Descent, Brian recounts—in fantastic detail—his extraordinary experience on Everest, demonstrating that no matter how dire our circumstances, there is no challenge too big for God.

The MacArthur Bible Commentary and the NKJV edition of The MacArthur Study Bible are both on sale for $6.99. The commentary is just the study notes and material from the study Bible without the Bible. In ebook, I find the commentary easier to use than the study Bible.

They're eligible for coupon codes at Kobo and there's a contest right now, so US, UK and Canadian customers can get another discount on top of the sale price.

Free from the author via KDP Select @ Amazon:

Panic at Emu Flat by Robert Elmer, 8th and last in his Adventures Down Under series of Australia-set tween/YA mystery/adventure thrillers, originally out from Bethany House in 1999.

What secrets do the growing shadows hide?

Patrick McWaid can’t understand why his friend Jefferson would leave the Lady Elisabeth to work on another ship. Sure, the Victoria is a much fancier paddle steamer, but Jeff’s new boss, First Officer York, is a tyrant and a bully. And when Jeff and the Victoria steam away from Goolwa, they leave a strange but valuable cargo behind—two crates full of ostriches!

The McWaids have no choice but to take on the extra load, and when they catch up to the Victoria at Emu Flat, Patrick has a run-in with the disagreeable Officer York. Once the Lady E arrives in Echuca, though, Patrick hears rumors that an officer from the Victoria has died. It could be York, but is Patrick somehow to blame? And now Jefferson has disappeared! Where could he be? No one on the Victoria is talking. What’s the big secret?

ETA: X-link from the Mystery megathread since the Publisher's Weekly review says that some of the stories are more faith-exploring parables than mysteries (YMMV as to "clean"-liness of content, though):

Broadman & Holman has a big list of titles that are $.99. I don't really see any rhyme or reason to which titles were selected (various fiction and nonfiction) and don't know how long it will last. Here are links to searches sorted by price.

Thanks.

I have seen many of them already, posted "here and there," but not all of them by any means!
