There will always be newer model e-readers coming to the market with their own features. It's a matter of deciding what you want and how long you're willing to wait. |

Its time for Kobo to step up to the plate and start really radically innovating. People are not happy with Amazon and its ecosystem. Sony is out. And B&N is just rebranding a Samsung tablet. C'mon Kobo, wow us: amaze us: Stop incrementing and start leaping!

Well, I guess this explains the $20 off sale. I wonder if I can get the $20 back, since I bought my new Aura HD 29 days ago... Maybe I should find a Chapters ad...

My HD is my favourite reader, so if the H2O is has any improvements on it then I would consider buying. But water resistance is not even on my list of "nice to have" features. Things I would be looking for:
Screen at least as good as the HD (not sure what impact a wacom capacitive screen will have, if that is true). Faster processor - a given I would say. More stylish "premium" case design than the HD. Please no more wacky, contoured back, or slippery plastic. Sensible choice of colours - anything but glossy black. (Pastel) white I like. I guess if it is waterproof, then it may be a lot more difficult to take apart and re-assemble, for those into that kind of thing. |

Must be. This premium ereader is based on a technical reference design from Netronix, who will also manufacturing the reader for Kobo. Just like any other Kobo reader.
Netronix builds also the Tolino Vision, a 6" reader with a standard resolution Carta (1024×758; 212 dpi) for mainly German and Austrian bookstore chains but will be rolled out to other countries accoss Europe by partnering with local bookstore chains. Hopefully, the new H2O it will have a Carta screen with the same 265 dpi (or higher) as the Aura HD. It would be a bummer if the resolution is lower than 1440 x 1080. |

I was very tempted by the Aura HD until I had a chance to play with a display copy in a shop, and I really didn't like the feel of the plastic. I actually really liked the Aura - how it felt in the hand and how it looked, and somehow it seemed more polished all over, including how the software looked - but an Aura or any other non-Amazon 6'' reader isn't really going to be sufficient to make me want to get one.
If the Aura H20 has a good screen and looks and feels as polished and nice as the Aura (and not as slippery plasticky as the Aura HD), I'm definitely going to be tempted, though... |

Anak, they work with hardware manufacturers for a very long time. Their wishes can morph into the hardware folks' reference designs.

Thanx to all for your advice, the HD it is. My observation with Kobo is the same I have with Apple. Devices are fine but it is the content that matters. Since I am new to the e reader world forgive my newbie observations but .... Devices have a tendency to saturate the market and suddenly drop .... iPads are a good example .... Look at the selection of great tabs that are out there today ... And continue to enter the market. Almost every company that can make an electronic device has a tab .... Kobo and Amazon included with their high end colour e readers. Smart phones went from one to virtually being the only phone you can buy, at least here in Canada. And along the way some large companies fell by the wayside because they didn't keep up. What I see is the survivors are the ones who seek content. Which is what I see Apple doing. Amazon is doing it, so should Kobo. I see apps like Calibre, Over Drive, if I were Kobo, if possible, I would buy the things to solidify content. Authors may not like it, but e reader owners would.
