Oooooooh... so... "upstream source code package" would be all the stuff he's currently working on with it?

Okay, I did see that page, and clicked on "Skipstone" at the top, and that's how I ended up where I did. I saw 0.7 at the bottom, but it says "zip package for GUI launcher"... and then there's a patch below it, and I just didn't know what I was looking at.

I'm sorry, y'all! I'm just not familiar with the terminology. I really appreciate your patience, though!

So... I take it from your earlier post referencing 0.7 that it's the one I should have. Do I need the patch below it? Probably not... I guess it's for the development version?

And I should get Leafpad at this location, then: http://www.fabiszewski.net/kindle-notepad/ I get 0.6? And I don't get the patch?

Alright, I got "zip package for GUI launcher" for both of them, extracted, copied them over, and now everything is hunky-dory!

I guess I'll see what other trouble I can get myself into, and try tackling KOReader. LOL

Now, I'll need to reinstall stuff whenever the Kindle does updates, right?

KOReader is up and running on an epub downloaded from Gutenberg! With that, I showed Skipstone, Leafpad, and KOReader to my daughter, and she was absolutely thrilled!

Couldn't go anywhere on Skipstone, since we don't have wifi. Most books get transferred by USB here, but we are at libraries regularly and other places with wifi.

I'm trying to find the Stardict files that are listed on the KOReader dictionary support page. I can't locate them on the Stardict site. She loves her dictionaries!

Thank y'all again so very much!!! My daughter is so happy!

You might find this interesting: Kindle_Touch_Hacking#Blocking_Official_Updates.

Also, updates will wipe out anything that had to be installed, i.e. pretty much anything that required an update.bin (the jailbreak itself will be preserved).

Anything in the Kindle userstore (Drive E:\ usually on windows, /media/Kindle/ on linux) is not part of the update image, since Amazon doesn't like the idea of deleting peoples' books every time the device updates.
