It's where the "Kindle for PC" program stores its books.

I copied books from the documents file of my Kindle to Calibre. I can not get the DRM removal to work or get my books organized. I think I missed a step.

For help with DRM removal, you should go to the source of the plugin.

(But chances are it is not configured -- check any instructions that came with the plugin. Hopefully this advice is vague enough that it won't be moderated. )

This is frustrating because I am the only one on this thread that does not know how to use Calibre for opening my books purchased from Amazon. When I went to Apprentice alf I downloaded the plugin but my security program blocked the site. When I disengaged the security software and downloaded I got a lot of crapware, and now all my browsers go to some websearch site instead of the homepage. My anti virus program siad it found a lot of problems. I MUST be doing something wrong if none of you have had problems!

You need to ask for help at the place you got the plugins from. Not here. We can't help you any further, I'm afraid.

All I can surmise is that you weren't at the right Apprentice Alf site. It sounds like someone has set up a malicious site with a similar URL/name.

I did not have to disable any security on my computer when I downloaded the plug-in. The site also has blog entries which explain many aspects of DRM removal.

I wear many hats in the real world among them are: network administrator and computer security officer. Wearning my computer security hat I would like to say that no one here should ever download anything from any web site unless you know the site and trust it. Even then you should take the plug in that you download and scan it with your anti-virus scanner. My anti-virus scanner, Mc Affee, will automatically scan anything and everything I download. However, I manually scan all downloads, right click o nthe file and click on scan.

Amazon and Mobileread are examples of web sites that you can trust, however you should scan anything and everything downloaded from either site to your PC. Plugins included.
