A man of his word...
![]() „Conversion: When inserting a metadata jacket, format the series number using roman numerals. This behavior can be disabled by using a custom jacket template, as described here: http://manual.calibre-ebook.com/cust...cetera.” Big thanks to all the coders. |

My series index have always shown in the jacket as decimal numbers. Two or three days ago they started showing as Roman numerals. I have confirmed there is no tick in the use Roman numerals box. What can I do? |

Once you have the file template.xhtml in your configuration folder, open it with an editor and change "series.roman" to "series" and described by the comment in the file. |

The change works fine for me. The screen shots show what I did. Last edited by chaley; 08-26-2014 at 01:28 AM. Reason: Fix first image to show how to open the calibre config directory |

@chaley - Re :
For me 'o' opens current book folder, which appears to be the default kb shortcut. I couldn't find a kb shortcut for Prefs->Misc->Open Calibre.... BTW - in Prefs->Misc, the Alt/c accelerator is 'assigned' to two controls, Limit... cores and Open... configur..., but typing Alt/c twice doesn't 'press' the button, it only makes it the current control, and even then Enter doesn't press the button - the button only responds to mouse clicks. Interestingly Alt/d does open the Debug device det... window. I'm not sure if any of this is V2.0/Qt5 related. It would be quite useful to have a direct kb shortcut to open the config directory. I am not understanding any of this thread. I see other people have had a problem like mine, where the jacket details shows Roman numerals for the series. I'm actually in tears because I'm so frustrated. Is there someone who can list the steps to fix this one by one?
Also, I've looked for the template.xhtml and I can't find that. Where is it and how do I add things to the configuration folder? Last edited by bettyruthe; 05-11-2015 at 10:42 PM. |

You have to make the changes by copying (with a file manager) and editing (with a text editor) a couple of files. BR |

@bettyruthe - in Windows Explorer Locate the Calibre2 folder in -- Program Files (if you use 64bit calibre) or Program Files (X86) (if you use 32bit calibre) - keep the window open
In main GUI program (library manager) go to Preferences->Miscellaneous and click Open configuration directory that will open your Calibre Config folder in Windows Explore - it'll be something like c:users\<you>\appdata\roaming\calibre - keep the window open. Close calibre. So now you will have two windows explorer windows - something like this If you don't have a resources subfolder in the configuration folder create an empty one - I'll assume that you didn't have one So open the two resources folders and you should see something like this Now you need to COPY the jacket folder from the Program Files/resources (left) to the Configuration/resources (right) so you end up with this OK we've finished with Program Files so close that window and open the jacket folder in the Config Zone - there are two files stylesheet.css template.xhtml You need to edit template.xhtml, but first you must remove read only, right click the file and select properties - uncheck Read Only and click OK You need an editor other than Notepad - a lot of us use Notepad++, viz While I was there I made the change so I've attached the template.xhtml file (it's in a zip - can't upload xhtml), try to do the change yourself - but if you get into trouble just use the one below BR How do people cope with Windows Explorer, it really is pathetic.
