Be sure to get H. Beam Piper's _Little Fuzzy_ from Librivox --- the reader has a wonderful voice.

There are some other Piper books there, but the production values aren't quite as nice --- _Little Fuzzy_ is quite professional and I can't recommend it highly enough.

The Uplift War by Brin is a very good novel.
Demon Breed by James Schmitz I also recommend. And the Teltzy and Trigger books.
Weber' s Safehold, Honor Harrington, Honorverse, Empire of Man, and Dahak series.
Eric Flint's Assiti Shards series.
James White's Sector General books.

Jean Johnson's Theirs is Not to Reason Why has lots of space battles, but a bit of a Mary Sue for the heroine.

Elizabeth Moon's Vatta's War series.

Maybe just go back to the classics. Have you read everything by A. Bertram Chandler, Keith Laumer, James H. Schmitz, etc.? I'm not much of one for audiobooks, but there should be some out there.

I heartily endorse all three of these series. I haven't listened to the audiobooks -- just read the text.

Scalzi's novel is a re-working of something which has aged quite well, and transforms Old Man Jack Holloway from a person I'd love to meet to a spoiled brat of a lawyer I can't decide whether to cane or hang.

I enjoyed "Ready Player one" read by Will Wheaton. If you grew up with video games you might enjoy the mention of all the classic video games.

I've read all of these and enjoyed them

I just read some Darrell Bain and had fun. His Crispy trilogy and Warp Point. He reminds a lot of Murray Leinster.

I can't rave enough about the Liaden books. Two of them are free. Agent of change http://www.baenebooks.com/p-595-agent-of-change.aspx and Fledgling http://www.baenebooks.com/p-1026-fledgling.aspx.

Anything by Lois McMaster Bujold.

The Boundary series by Eric Flint and Ryk Spoor.

If you haven't read all of the old stuff and are still interested in Goldan Age SF. Murray Leinter, A.E. van Vogt, James H. Schmitz, H. Beam Piper all had up beat SF that's still easy to find.
