Clearly, they agree with me, that "directory" and "folder" can be used interchangeably in a computer-related discussion.

Nowhere did you actually say you have a problem with that.

I don't go that far back, although I've seen lots of stuff nobody remembers any more (VMS, Ultrix, TOPS20, UTS...at one time we were the only IBM site running JES3 in all of Europe). That's what you get for starting as a lowly system operator with what was AT&T (and later became Lucent Technologies and is now Alcatel-Lucent) in the mid-80's...

I still get flashbacks to the 'DD' JCL statement every time I use the Unix 'dd' command. Nobody understands why the syntax of that command is so weird except old mainframers like you and me ;-)

Nice to see that someone gets the joke.

I remain astounded how much that we did at Berkeley and BTL in the 70s is still used. Commands like "grep" that comes from the ed command g - regexp - p, or "tar" that comes from "tape" "ar" that comes from "archiver", or "ex" that comes from ed extended.

@mbovenka The JES wars are still raging - A debate on JES2 versus JES3... ( grown ups only )

I found TomR's comment amusing.
