Check it out please, it is an opensource reader that has Kindle, Kobo and Android support. They have couple syncing backends.

You can run Koreader without an ebook device.

Not directly an answer to your request, but I wrote a tool to support Wallabag in Kobo readers, called Wallabako. It doesn't directly support Koreader just yet, but it's planned. What's missing is basically a "button" to trigger synchronization (otherwise it happens automatically when wifi comes up) and read status synchronization.

When I last checked, Wallabag didn't support sending articles by email. That was the only reason I didn't install it in my home server. Does this work now?

I forward all my webfic chapters, newsletters, online magazines and such to Pocket by email. And read them from my iPad (or Kobo). This feature is crucial for me, just because of this I keep using an Exchange server for my email (Exchange has the best forwarding features I have used)
