Way back in the early 1970s I was a college student at Rutgers University, on the banks of the old Raritan -- and just a short walk upstream from Johnson & Johnson (their old brick blockhouse, not the new, modern complex they have now). Like many college students, I would spend an occasional evening, or weekend, tossing back a few beers. And, eventually, I began to wonder what would happen if a band aid* escaped from its captive breeding tank at J&J, got into the polluted Raritan, and mutated.

That's the back story to Remembering Emmy. Over the years the story has grown a bit, in my mind at least, but that's the origin story.
