My favourite way method of consuming books, is to listen to the audio book while reading the ebook. I listen to the entire book from beginning to end (not in one go), but I don't always read every single page. The ability, to see the words, on a page, help me to focus on the story.

I'm torn about installing it on my Apple devices--i still have the ancient version with in-app purchasing, so I'll need to decide which feature is more important to me. By the way, over in the closed thread, somebody wrote 'it doesn't add additional items.' I can confirm that this is incorrect. Kindle app downloaded a completely separate copy of the audio from the one I was previously whispersyncing with in the Audible app. Last edited by curtw; 06-12-2014 at 11:12 AM. |

So ............... we do away with paper books because ebook versions are more convenient [umm.... but sadly not if you aren't online], accessible [but sadly not for undeveloped or economically deprived areas/individuals], not as expensive to make or buy [but, ditto above...], 1,000's of them can be stored [until a solar flare erupts/you lose the thing ]on a small, light electronic device [which is sadly not as sturdy or long-lived as its' paper equivalent], thus making everything so much simpler and easier for modern living.
And we can get the same enjoyment, education, and enlightenment as we used to with boring old paper books ................ Then, to make the whole experience more ....interesting, exciting, fullfilling, and well, just a little bit easier than all that eyestrain, and keeping all the virtues of ereaders listed above, and give the books a soundtrack .... [ unless, of course, you've invested in a device which can't deliver sound]. There, much better - and just possibly this will provide a little bit more funds, and market share from to help eliminate inefficient, wasteful competitors, and so make the world a better, simpler place. Although, hang on, what is it now...... yes, films, that's it, they lack a little something ...........that'd be good, improve everything, stick 'em all together. I can see the ad's now ............ "READ! [use that sub-title thing, that'll work], SEE!HEAR!"....wow, terrific ! Mmm...just a thought, smellorama ? Thought transference ? TOUCHY FEEL-Y ?? Submersive reafeeseesniffing ..... ? Now we're cooking ! ![]() Last edited by carpetmojo; 06-13-2014 at 05:48 AM. |

Pretty much the same as well. I read it first, then listen. Most of that is because I tend to buy audio books where I know the book (they are pretty pricey to buy one on a whim), some is because new audio books tend to come out a week or so after the ebook comes out, and some because when I do buy them at the same time, I read a whole lot faster than the narrator can speak. There are a hand full of books where the audio book is available and the ebook isn't. For example, I didn't notice the books of Merlin of Zelazny's Amber series when they first came out, so I never got around to reading them before I listened to the audio books.

Highlighting each printed word as it is being read aloud is exactly what the new app does for me (Android version).
