Hi there guys, just joined the forum.

I curious is it possible to change dx screen for dxg screen? everything fomr cords and shape seems to me identical. Also i cant find on the internet whoever tried this.

The DX(G) will never get another update, or be produced using newer tech, but that doesn't mean the existing ones will stop working.

True, but that can happen to any device even if it was current... I was thinking on a more basic level: the lack of a software update doesn't break the DX.

Although at some point any device will simply wear out.

I think the DX had a pre-Pearl e-Ink screen and the DXG had the better Pearl screen. It might be possible to update the DX with a DXG screen, but I wouldn't bother as the DX firmware is even more antiquated than the firmware on the DXG.

Is there any way to set "back" button as "next" and "next" button as "back" without root?

Because DX is heavy(mine is dxg),so I usually hold middle part of device, then my finger is on "back" button. each time, I have to move my finger lower to press next button,very inconvenient.

It will probably never be updated, but there is no reason why Amazon should not introduce 11" or 13" flexible e-ink reader once Plastic Logic or any other manufacturer starts selling those big screens at affordable prices.

We can install kindlepdfviewer in a couple of minutes thereon and have a much better pdf reader than native one, including all the necessary zooming options, gamma correction to make fonts darker and highlighting by underlining.

Kindlepdfviewer also reads epub, djvu, cbz and features solid folder managment.

I still read a lot on DX outside the house and inside (using table or wall led lamps) without any problems, using gamma correction to increase the contrast when needed.

it looks like Amazon is now 100% out of Kindle DXs.
I was able to submit an order to buy an International DX back on Nov 2014 but I have just got this email from Amazon.com Customer Service:
"Hello,
We are contacting you about order #105-0131866-2612254 for your Kindle DX. Unfortunately, we have run out of stock for this device. We are cancelling the unshipped portion of this order.

Hi, I put my order in on Nov 2nd last year and got the cancellation message last week.
Amazon have promised a credit of $20 on my next purchase, but I would have preferred the DX.
