Did you not end up with a folder called windows.old (type %systemdrive%\Windows.old) when you installed Windows 7? - as long as you did not do an installation formatting the drive this folder is created to preserve old settings.

If so, you may find them in there, normally somewhere under windows.old\Users>username, probably in the sub-folder ...\roaming\calibre under that.

If you have done a thorough search, as you say you have, then if they were there you would likely have found them, but it may be worth a eyeball check.

I did check there, thank you. Either windows didn't save other programs, or something went wrong during the save process.

Because the windows.old folder is usually very big, if drive space is limited (which is common on upgraded XP PCs because of their age) it is sometimes deleted by the installer or user to free up drive capacity at the time of the upgrade.

But, in any event, I can't recall for Windows 7 but I suspect it is the same as Windows 8.x in that it removes the windows.old folder after 4 weeks. Also, if you do a disk clean up under administrative tools it may also be deleted.

One of these three things may apply in your case.
