No they want them in DOCX so that they can revise or search content.

Some of us use calibre as one tool in an arsenal thereof to manage research material. Apart from the convenience of reading on portable device ebook formats are not very good at that. That's why PDF is still the most often seen format in academia.

I used to convert to rtf and then import. Haven't done it for years but one never knows.

Or you can convert to formatted text etc.

You could also use the built in calibre editor or sigil, but maybe not worth the learning curve if you don't edit often.

Purists will not agree but rtf is probably good enough if you are only editing an occasional document.

Fair is fair, he put those words into my mouth. I was just bringing back the context of my previous statement. Whether justified or not, I was casting doubt on the advisability of turning ebooks into .docx not on the usage of word procesors in general.

@eschwartz - can you post a link to the Glorfindel post that indicates he was looking to convert EPUB to DOCX -whether it be a perfectly good, professionally cleaned, semantically consummate EPUB, or otherwise.
