I was rather disappointed when file management was not improved, but event buffering is solving some of the problems with it. Mind you, I still expect some sort of improvement with this but I'm not so impatient anymore.
As for "page not turning even with led blinking" bug I think it's related, at least in my case, with cover. I find the hole left for button too small and as a result the button is not pressed properly in most cases when this bug occurs. There are two solutions: chuck the cover and read it naked OR and cut the hole to accommodate my thumb. I'm going to do the second thing as soon as I decide how much and get some adequate tools. Vesper,
Hmmm that is an interesting idea. Haven;t thought of that possibility. I would suggest a Dremel like tool. I guess you would remove the mask, cut out a bigger window. Do make sure to post here on your experience doing it and results. To all, I did install it without issues. Haven't had much time to try it yet. |

I guess I've had the page-not-turning bug; I just always thought I wasn't pushing the button hard enough, or holding it long enough, or something.

The positive aspect is that the installation really works without a flaw.
The only positive effect for me of the new firmware is that I can no page faster through my hundreds of eBooks in the Library ![]() I normaly use my CyBook until the battery is dry, which I only notice because I can't no longer turn a page (since there is no indication of the remaining battery capacity while reading a book) and then I can't use my CyBook for several hours because you can't read while recharging. By the way that's the only constallation my CyBook doesn't remember the page I was on. It doesn't even remember the correct book. After charging I land in the library view when turning the Cybook on and the cursor is on a book I read some times earlier. Guess I have to change my habits and load the Cybook whenever I'm home and not reading, even if the battery is only partaly drained. So, as you probably allready guessed, the three 'fixes' I'm waiting for are: 1. Decent library management 2. Battery indicator while reading 3. Reading while charging |

I think I saw a technique somewhere in the forums to force (fool?) the cybook into letting you read while charging. I can't remember where, though....

What do you consider a "big" PDF? When everyone talks about it crashing, is this for a book length PDF?
Normally, I use the pdf's for one to ten or twelve pages I'm scanning. -Alyson (no device yet, still researching) |

Pro:
Seems zippier. Like the multiple page turn feature (ie hold down the button to continue turning pages). No more slowdowns, and no more non-bookmarking. Con: New, more serious problem. About once per day it corrupts my memory card. I have to reformat it and reload it. Although it now always takes bookmarks, I loose all of them when I have to reload from the PC. Of course, none of the new features like library directories, and better navigation within a book. Overall -- negative. Michael ![]() |

Highly unlikely to be the "fault" of the new firmware, Michael. Sounds as if you may, perhaps, have a faulty SD card. Do you have a different one that you could try?

As for PDFs, some specifications in PDF are big both in terms of size (hundreds of pages) as well as complexity (include diagrams, tables, etc.) I didn't investigate, just gave up. So it has to do with the content and how complex it is. |

The length of a PDF shouldn't really be of any relevence - only the current page is being rendered at any given time. The issue is, I strongly suspect, the complexity of the page. Some pages are just too much for the (presumably) limited computational and memory resources of handheld devices.

We do not need another thread on the Gen3 firmware. We already have two others. I have locked this thread so the conversation can continue in one of the original two threads.
