I have worked with it extensively today, and encountered no lockup. Will keep testing, but am hopeful.

Spoke too soon. One lockup on an insert, but only one. Can not duplicate, so am not worrying about it. Now it is in great shape to make real progress on this bear of a PDF-epub. Shifted paragraphs, wrong columns and my problems are with the book not your software. How about your next upgrade includes magic, uniting paragraphs whose sections are 4-5 paragraphs away! (grin)

The latest twist is it only seems to lock up now when I type with an <h4> a space id then when I press = it locks up.

The twist part is I programmed phrase express to do the exact same phrase and it goes all the way to id=". NO lockup. Fine by me since it is easier anyway!

Can you send me a document and precise location in the document where this happens. Simply typing

<h4 id=

in a random document doesn't cause any issues for me.

It will take a bit. Because the included pictures are gigantic, it is 48 meg. Must resize before I can send.

Just delete the pictures. I doubt they contribute to the lock up in anyway.

When the pictures are shrunk to jpgs and the file is 2 meg, the problem hasn't appeared yet.

I was in split 7 at The Structure of SIS. But I can't get it to do it now. I am putting spaces between all the run together words, moving stranded sections like the one beginning with GINT just above it to where it belongs, putting images in paragraphs, inserting images and capt tags into the paragraph tags for images and captions, etc., moving chunks of paragraphs split by pictures so that no paragraph is split by a picture, etc. so the whole sequence I can't come up with.

I would mark the heading, use the <> button to tag it as h4, then put the cursor right after the 4 in h4 and type space id= and that is where it would lock up.

But it isn't now. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Sorry to bug you, since I can't get it to do again.

Oh well, hopefully someday a repeatable scenario will happen. Until then, at least the frequency of the problem has greatly dimished.

Yes it certainly has. I just have to stop and think when I make an insertion...time to save! But I haven't had it recur. I am working on the 2-3 meg version, since I can't upload the 48 meg monstrosity and it will take forever to process in my PRS-300.

I will try to be a little more alert as to just what the sequence is. It has always happened after hour or more editing sessions, so I think it is somehow memory related, on the order of some memory area not purged and so it gets added to and added to until boom! it overwrites program memory.

I will turn on EMT4.1 to monitor calibre and see whether it does anything interesting!
