Actually, it was 8 years ago, not five. I bought some of those books and was able to check the release dates - May 1, 2006. It's scary to think how time flies.

DRM is inevitably cracked so that it seems like wasted money to invest in any scheme. Why pay Adobe for their software when it is trivially easy to circumvent? Most books can be found for free with Google but many people still choose to pay despite high prices, poor quality control, geo-restrictions and DRM. I wonder how many people would pay for their books if DRM was unbreakable? I have a few TOR books and I can't say I'm impressed by the minimal proofing in some of those books.
