I thought that might have changed with this new combining of the personal documents and the cloud. Maybe they'll do that in a future update. I was figuring this was their way of competing with other cloud storage such as Dropbox or Microsoft OneDrive.

This is a great news. Now do this and let me know if it works for you: Deleting files from the Cloud Drive application for Windows/OSX/Linux doesn't seem to sync back to amazon.com/myk. Eh?

This could be awesome, as the interface for removing personal documents at http://amazon.com/myk is not the best.

BTW, quiris, you beat me too.

Deleting from the cloud drive syncs with MYK for me--I'm not sure why it isn't for you. Maybe because I'm using the web interface to the cloud drive rather than the app?

The email specifically says:

Quote:
Documents stored in their native format: Also starting today, new documents that you save to the cloud with Send to Kindle will be stored in their native format (e.g. MS Word, TXT) so you can access them anywhere from Amazon Cloud Drive.
so this would appear to be the case, yes. But I imagine that they would still be converted if you access them from the Kindle itself. The wording of the email suggests that you only get access to the native format from Cloud Drive.

It works for me. But now I should not need to do that. I had a couple of dozen books > 50MB that I've been keeping there but now I can just put them in personal documents folder.

It syncs but not immediately. You should wait a couple of seconds.

I performed 2 tests:

1) Sending azw3 file (using Send to Kindle) unpacked with KindleUnpack tool from properly built Mobi file (with kindlegen tool).

The file was properly saved on MYK site and it is also visible on Cloud Drive (with incorrect extension .azw).

2) Sending azw3 file (using Send to Kindle) prepared with calibre.

The file was rejected as incorrect.

So I suspect that there is a problem in calibre tool.

Does this affect how send to Kindle docs show up on docs section on Kindle Fire instead of books section?

The uploaded books are always stored in Personal Documents section.

Thanks for trying. I only use calibre so I'll stick with side loading for now.

I haven't tried it, but couldn't you just place the calibre created azw3 file onto your cloud drive and use it from there without using either the send to kindle app or emailing it?

The issue is, I believe, not the storage of the file on the cloud drive per se, but the point at which you attempt to download it to your Kindle. At that point, the same format conversion occurs that previously occurred when you used "Send to Kindle", and that conversion has always rejected "pure" KF8 files.

I noticed this and emailed customer service about it. As of this morning, all of my 1100+ personal documents are now showing up in the Cloud Drive.
