Interesting. On my Nexus 7 (WiFi 2013), Model Nexus 7; Android 4.4.2; Kernel 3.4.0-gac9222c; Build KOT49H, Naming Therappy Lite (v1.0.1, 2014-Mar-31) loads and seems to work quite happily.

No rooting or other hacks.

Regards,
David

Thanks for trying David. Yeah, there's some permission setting that seems to be causing problems with only certain devices. I'm trying to hunt it down. The fact is works with the latest Nexus 7 and not the earlier one will hopefully give me some good clues.

Kobo needs not to be rooted or jailbreaked, you already have root privileges by default. Not really safe, but an heaven for hackers

For what I know, Tolino Android can be also installed on an external SD and you can modify the Kobo bootloader to choose which operating system you want to boot.

Probably you could have more feedback in the Android thread, it's full of people that installed Tolino Android on their Kobos.

No, this is a general android programming issue and is probably an error in the project manifest and/or old/imcompatible permission usage. I would strongly suggest to direct the question to a general Android development board, like the according mailing lists from the Android project.

Hi hawhill,

Yes, you're exactly correct. I just came back to update everyone in case someone else stumbles across this thread.

The actual problem was to do with the fact that the app was unnecessarily
requiring a camera feature (potentially auto-focus but that didn't entirely make sense as it appears that the Arc 7 has one).

Changing the camera to
Code:
<uses-feature android:name="android.hardware.camera" android:required="false" />
in the manifest did the trick.

Thanks everyone for your help.
