Oh ok. Kobo ebooks when they get synced to the Desktop App, they get saved on my laptop as Document files in a folder called 'kepub'. Unlike Kindle books, I can access them from a folder called 'My Kindle Content' and they're not documents and I can open them via Calibre. It's not the same with Kobo books, right?

I downloaded the epub sample. I previewed it in Calibre, it looked right. When I side loaded the sample to my Kobo ereader, the formatting issue is still there.

Sorry if this is too obvious, but have you got the justification override set on the device's font adjustment menu? You may need to turn this off if you want to see the book justified exactly as it is specified in the stylesheet.

The files downloaded via the Kobo desktop app can be opened with calibre if they don't have DRM. The files don't have an extension, so you need to add epub as an extension. Then, if they DRM free, they can be treated as an epub.

But, what are you trying to achieve? The screen shot from the Kobo website seems to say the books are already in your library. And it sounds like you downloaded them to the desktop. Syncing the Aura HD either using the desktop app or WiFi should put these books onto the device. That will give full kepub function. Is this not happening?

GeoffR was right. I turned justification on for my previous read but forgot to turn it off after finishing the book. I totally forgot about it. I guess we were overanalyzing something that turned out to be as simple as pressing a button.

davidfor, I am so sorry for wasting your time. I'll be awarding you some Karma to make up for it
