I have a 505 with 2GB SD and 8GB Memory Stick Extra Stupid or whatever the "looks like an SD card but is proprietary Sony shape" thing is. Both are full of MP3s so I can listen to them while I'm using external power. But mostly I keep them separate and just use the liseuse for reading. Cards make the startup time pretty horrid, and I find that I shuffle books on and off the device pretty fast due to lack of ability to mark things ead or move them to a separate folder - paging through 200 items is pretty ugly, doing it for 1000+ would be appalling.

I use a 2GB Sandisk SD card in my Cybook and I pop it into a USB stick (SD card reader) to use with my iLiad. I'm nowhere near filling the SD card with eBooks, but that's my aim!
And.. I'll use the 1GB SD card that came packaged with my HanLin, in it. Last edited by Crisby; 05-05-2008 at 06:17 AM. Reason: Adding my HanLin |

I have a 2 GB SD card for the PRS-500 and a host of Memory Sticks from years Sony cameras. The Memory Sticks are from 16 MB up to 128 MB. However, I don't use them. Since I can put 40 books on the internal memory and still have over 40 MB remaining means that I have no need for the expansion capability. I have a 30 GB Creative Zen that I use for MP3s so the only time I have used the expansion is to review pictures I have taken on the Sony after exchanging the Memory Stick in the camera.

Yes, I do. It is a good 20 feet long and very sturdy, but easy to roll up when not in use. And it's white, so no one will trip over it. It does limit my reading to being close to an electrical socket, but in many cases...
huh?... oh... you said expansion card? Never mind. |

My Kindle has a 2G SD card in it -- which formerly was in my digital camera until I upgraded the camera to an 8G card. It's about 3% utilized or some such silly nonsense like that. I only have the books I'm likely to read in the next couple of weeks loaded into the Kindle (including the SD card). In my backpack, I carry a USB "thumb" drive with practically everything I've ever downloaded on it, so I can push other books onto the device whenever I want.
When my sister got her Kindle, I purchased a 1G SD card for her (at under $15.00) and put 350 files on it (including all 50 of the Harvard Classics) which only took up 150 Meg of the card's storage. Books of text don't take much space, even if they're a pretty long book. Illustrated books (such as the Beatrix Potter ones) are *HUGE*. |

8GB for my Kindle. I actually purchased it for my laptop but decided the Kindle had a better use for it.

Must cast quite a Shadow then? But maybe only in the Mind?
Oh, wait you wrote Orson Scott Card not Orson Wells...or are they one in the same? Not that it matters but I have one 8GB I use for the internal card. I also have a 16GB for the external card due here any day for my N800... |

i use a 64 mo (yes, all that !!) SmartMedia card which i bought with my liseuse (eb1150). all my books are on the card, because i can't access the internal memory if there is a card inserted. i currently have 104 books on it (including several dictionaries, a few omnibus editions, and some illustrated works) with 2.3mo (3%) free. i keep my library on my hard drive (i need to find a better way of organising / cataloguing it though) and add the books i can foresee wanting to read in the near future.
i like having a selection available to me so as to anticipate all possible reading moods (and i also like to read 2 or 3 different books in parallel, and switch back and forth depending on my mood), but that seems amply sufficient to me, at least for now. even if i were to take it with me for a 2-week trip, i doubt i would be able to read all 100 (or so) books. |
