I just tried connecting my HD to Calibre again, and have to walk back everything I said. Embarrassing.

Calibre shows everything just fine on my HD. I don't know what happened before that gave me the idea that it couldn't display my Personal Documents. Most probably user error. You are right, of course, about Calibre not being able to View/display purchased Amazon ebooks. But it sees them by author and title, and alerts me when attempting to view them that there's DRM. It's true that in Windows Explorer I still can't identify my Personal Documents on the HD, but that's now inconsequential.

Much apologies, though I'm so grateful that now I can so easily manage my Personal Documents on the HD. What's so embarrassing is that my last karma I gave to you was for the exact same pair: my faulty premises, your probing questions. The kick in the butt worked once again, though at the expense of you and everybody who's reading these posts and my misinformation.

But thank you!

Fire HD - Why?

Been reading all these threads talking about problems/issues with the Fire HD. Really helped me decide definitively to not 'upgrade' to HD from my Fire. Doesn't appear that it would offer me anything new that would be useful -- just new problems/headaches that I solved/worked out in past years. caliber works to perfection with Kindle Fire for managing/transferring books from Kindle, both personal docs or books, directly to/from the Kindle itself and/or the My Kindle Content folder (including all DRM regardless of source) with one exception.

One issue to be aware of if you haven't already encountered it. If you transfer a personal document by 'Sent to PC' or email it will go to your Kindle Account Library and be assigned a special DRM that the plug-ins can't handle. Of course, you still have the original and can transfer it any where you want.
