Kindle for PC asking to upgrade - Page 2

I've got 40500 and Alf still works.

What I'm really waiting for is the full support for the Cloud including personal documents so that I could review my highlights from non-amazon books...

When I used Kindle Keyboard, it was enough to copy .mbp file from the reader to see all annotations in K4PC, this does not work for Paperwhite anymore.

Good to hear Alf still works. Hopefully it's just a maintainance upgrade.

Same for me (Windows 7). I clicked download, turned my head and it was done. Not one of those updates that wipes everything already downloaded.

I must say that I forgot to look at the build number in the parenthesis. The one I have now is (40500).

I just got a new laptop and downloaded K4PC 1.10.6 same build as yours. I did get a message that I would have to soon update. Alf is working with this version fine. Hopefully the new update will be Alf friendly.

Same here. I'm using Kindle for PC through Wine and I rely on our well-known friend so I'm not in a hurry to make any kind of change.

Edit: I noticed the software was on auto-update so maybe it wasn't 40500 before the message. Also, I should untick this box.

I have had the latest version of Kindle for PC (1.10.6 build 40500) installed since last May. I kept the file that I downloaded then and it is identical to the version currently available for download from Amazon.

I am also getting the warning. My theory is that the software was created with a built-in expiration date.

I rarely use K4PC as I prefer my Mac to my old PC laptop. But I went to check it after reading this thread. Interestingly enough my K4PC was set to automatically update, yet it was still at version 1.10.0 build 40245. I t had not even updated to build 40255. I opened and closed the app several times, but it never offered to update other than giving me the popup window once, which was only a reminder. There is no Update Software menu option within K4PC. The only way I could get it to update was to go the the Amazon website, search for the latest version, download it, then install it. Pretty damn stupid way to do business. But this is Amazon we are talking about. They are obviously way behind the curve on much of their software.

It's a good theory. I've had that particular build for quite some time, too.

I have Version 1.10.4 (40317) Last Updated: 11/19/2012.

So far, everything's working just great.

Hi Sorry, I just have a query on this. I also opened up Kindle and got the message. I have Calibre .9.33 and our friend's garden tools version tools_v5.4.1 (I don't update unless I have to) - will ihave to update Calibre and the tools to get Kindle update to work?

Probably not.

However, you are far behind. My advice would be to update everything: k4pc, Calibre, plugins and Tools.

Put it this way, the updates definitely can't hurt.

Well, at least calibre+plugins+tools, dunno about K4PC.

I just did the update for K4PC - without updating any of the tools or Calibre - and it still seems to be doing what it's supposed to do. At least with a sample of a kindle book.
