Their statement, by the way, says words to the effect that only Amazon can sell ebooks readable on Kindle. This is clearly wrong.

Before I retired I looked for ignorance before I looked for malice when things went wrong. Neither Edinburgh Books or Indieebook.co.uk have replied to me yet, so I don't think anyone can tell which one they are showing.
Well, as they sell mainstream books not selfpublished titles (The indie in the name is for independent bookshops not publishers) then they are correct and only Amazon can sell these ebooks for reading on a kindle.

On the plus side the site is easy to read, fast and doesn't have any self pubbed books (The last could be a plus or a minus depending on your preferences).

Hmm, The search works pretty well (it also admits when it can't find an author instead of returning unrelated results), the format is show in the search results, there is a shopping cart and the site isn't trying to sell me books in a foreign language. I think I'll bookmark this one, shame they don't take PayPal but, other than that, not a bad site.

It is still factually incorrect.
Baen and other traditional publishers sell drm-free mobi ebooks from their own sites. DRM free mobi isn't just for indies.

Yes, I know, but all of the books from this site are from the big 5. So it is correct to say that you can only buy from Amazon for a Kindle (With the possible exception of Tor books although I haven't seen them offered as mobi anywhere so they too are probably ePub or Amazon).
To be more accurate It's incorrect to say you can only buy books for the Kindle from Amazon but factually correct to say you can only buy these books from Amazon. So, although its technically incorrect, it's correct enough for my liking and probably saves a lot of confusion. Sort of the reverse of how the Jetbook Mini was advertised as being able to read ePubs, mobi, rtf etc (with the small print saying that you had to convert them to fb2's first).
