@MoVo: then you must be doing something wrong somewhere, because I've been using AZW3 (in a large part with epub conversions) from day one, and besides some growing pains in the beginning, there hasn't been any issue of that nature in a good long while, provided you do it right (i.e. use Calibre, or be aware of the limitations and workarounds if you're using KindleGen).

(Meaning: what are you doing exactly, and more details on exactly what you're experiencing).

Currently I'm using the newest version of Calibre (v1.20) to do the conversions. I used to have a Nook ST before and was having no issue converting from prc into epub. But converting from epub into azw3 just doesn't work. Here are the steps I usually do:

1, Add an epub into the Calibre (by dragging and dropping)
2, Right click -> Convert books -> Convert individually
3, Choose azw3 as the output format and Click OK.
4, Copy the converted azw3 to the device -> Done!

As for example, I have uploaded an ebook that was used for one of my conversions. Please take a look.

Um, try to avoid uploading copyrighted works. And remove this one quickly.

You can always PM it to NiLuJe or whoever else might need it.

@eschwartz: Oh sorry about that. I was trying to edit the post but I couldn't. A notification shows up and says I have to wait for 15' to able to edit the post, although is about half an hour now .

How are you copying the book to your kindle? "Send to device" in calibre or manually copying the file to Documents? If the latter, try "Send to device".

It's difficult for someone else to answer that question for you. You should look at the new features list for each release and decide whether they are important for you personally.

That is very hard to answer here.

This forum has a natural tendency to gather complaints rather than praises.

A forum concentrating on modification of devices rarely hears from people who **do not** want any modifications made.
I.E: "satisfied customers"

If your question was meant as:
"Are there any TECHNICAL benefits to upgrading from 5.4.0 ..."

I do not recall reading any posts here that would suggest that there are benefits.

I know what they already answered me as I found an Issue hwlie reading PDF files and doing zoom. I got an error message saying that kindle don't have enough memory and the document got closed.

I quote answer for customer service after sending request and log files:
"I'm sorry for the issues you encountered with reading .pdf files on your Kindle Paperwhite device.

We worked to fix this problem as quickly as possible and released a new Software Version(5.4.2.1) to fix this issue. "

My concern is that after jailbreaking the device I don't have this issue anymore. Should I apply the fix? Not sure about other features or improvements, that's why I 'd like to see a full list

On the Amazon.co.uk website they don't offer any changelog at all.

5.4.2 fixed a bug with OSX Mavericks where the Kindle would not mount correctly into usb drive mode.

That's the only real benefit I can recall. So unless that affects you, I'd generally say not. The hassles introduced by the update outweighed the benefits for me.

I was thinking more of the list of new features. They are generally spelled out reasonably thoroughly.
