I have Kobo desktop edition folder and the affiliate folder is in it. I tried to look at hidden folders but .kobo folder didnt show up. Is Kobo desktop edition folder is same as .kobo folder? I tried manually updating it too. I ınstalled software 3.11 and I unzipped in Kobo desktop edition folder. then I sync the device and ejected it. The update did not start. I have no idea what else can I do (
You need to make a change on the device, not on your computer. As it sounds like you are using Windows, when you connect the device to the PC, it will be shown as a drive. Open that drive in explorer and look for a directory called ".kobo". Among other files and directories, this will have the affiliate.conf file. Change that and save it, eject the device and try to do a sync.

The manual install of the firmware is done by copy the contents of the firmware package to the .kobo directory on the device.
