Ah, Vancouver. Here in Ottawa we got down to -24°C (-11.2°F) overnight. At 2pm it was still -21.8 °C at the airport. On the bright side the Rideau Canal is doing great.

41F? I thought Canada looked like a negative wonderland on the weather map I saw last night... but that was the part directly above NYS. Hell with the 40C, I'd settle happily for 40F about now! They're calling for -3F tonight/tomorrow morning! Brrrrr. On the plus side, we'll probably have two weeks at most and it'll start climbing. It was 53F here a week ago, but alas, only for a day or so. Been a cold Winter here, so far, compared to the last few years.

Vancouver weather (dnsb's location) is like seattle...but yeah, that's the exception in canada.
We've got -22c/-8F here. And this winter that isn't even unusual. Arg, I need to live in a properly regulated weather country...say between 15-22C.

Speaking as someone from the south part of the middle section of Canada where we usually hit -30C at least a few times over the winter and >+30C semi-regularly over the summer, it's a lot easier to add clothes and huddle under a blanket in the cold of winter than deal with the heat if you don't have air conditioning in the summer (there's only so many clothes one can take off
). So we have the advantage of being able to empathize with whatever weather people are complaining about .
