Having the time wrong (eg by rebooting the Kindle and not doing a sync to reset the time) only has an impact on the "Sort by Most Recent" screen, in that newly-read or loaded books won't appear at the top of the list. It won't stop books from appearing; they'll simply be listed in the wrong place.
