I have the HD and didn't even think about getting an Aura. I was not willing to go back to the smaller size screen. I hope that Kobo releases a capacitive HD larger device in the spring. I have a big smart phone, so rather than take my Aura with me, I can read on that if I wish. That being said, I carry a very small handbag and my Aura HD fits in it just fine.

Thank you everyone for your advices. I played with my HD for a day now and it's growing on me besides the weight. I actually like the bigger screen especially since the footer seems to occupy a huge space. I have meddled with the collections and so far so good with about 200 books. And I am happy with the light which is bright and even and there are no pinholes nor diamond pattern. Not only that I don't want to hurt my husband's feeling I also don't want to go through the whole return/replace process if the Aura has pinholes, etc...
I think I might keep my HD for a few more days and see if I can live with the weight. I read a lot in bed and the extra weight is noticeable since I have small wrists, does anyone see anything like this card-holder but for ereader? It might be a neat solution for those of us who like to read in bed.... http://www.amazon.com/Gamewright-Lit...ay+card+holder |

I got the Aura HD and much more recently an IPad Mini Retina. After that I sold my Kobo Glo and I don't plan on ever getting the smaller Aura as the HD and the Ipad Mini complete each other perfectly for me.

I have the Aura HD and would not change. The larger screen, great lighting and the high pixel density make for the best reading you can find on an e-reader. Yes is is bigger and heavier and the design of the back is just plain stupid but for reading you cannot beat it. And the bottom line is that's what you do with it. I'd keep the HD and in about a month or so go back and look at the screen on an Aura, Paperwhite or anything else. You'll appreciate the difference.

I decided to keep the Aura HD afterall. The reading experience is so nice that most of the time I forget about the weight and instead try to find a comfortable position and/or support (pillow, teddy bear, anything close-by) to pop it up. Btw can someone point me to the thread(s) of how to use calibre to wirelessly sideload books to the AuraHD? I never use wifi to transfer ebooks before.
Thank you everyone! mimosa |

Thank you very much for the instructions & the cover link. I have a sleep cover for the HD and quite happy with it. Thanks anyway.

Yesterday I was strongly considering getting the Aura....today I found a seller on Amazon offering the Aura HD for a rarely seen price, so I bought it. Yes it is bigger and heavier, but it is a LOT lighter than my tablets, which I have been reading on a lot lately. I can't wait to compare it to my Glo, which is nice, but the text is not as dark as on my tablets. Now I need to get on the ball and sell the extra Nook HD I have on hand....won't make up what I spent, but it's something

I should imagine after a while that you would get very workable man-hands [Seinfeld], which will be ideally suited for moving heavy objects around the room. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Seriously, I keep thinking I'll buy the Aura HD, but the casing enclosing it has gotten so much flack, that I'm thinking of waiting until (or when?) a second generation of the device comes along. |
