HOOOOOOLD UP.

Did Derek say there was a problem with the cybook? You mean, like, it doesn't do something correctly?

whoa.

I tested it too. It doesn't even mark the links as links on an html page, even if they go to places on the same page. So then I thought to notice if it's displaying the other html tags correctly, like headers and center, and it is. (I did a very quick test of something I had on hand. I'm not interested enough to do exhaustive testing.)

It is extremely easy to just drag and drop the html page into mobipocket reader and it'll convert.

Y'know. I'll just sit back and watch your beliefs crumble... Nope, while I'm unabashedly pro-Cybook Gen3, I have acknowledged there are bugs as well as features that haven't been implemented to what I'd call acceptable. (I'm still waiting for my properly-functioning Delete button, Bookeen.)

Yeah, if one is just trying to read ebooks on the Cybook, I can't see why one would stick with plain HTML when either Mobigen or BookDesigner will convert same to a decent mobi ebook. But I'm also sure there are very good reasons why some don't want to have to convert. (Hint, hint. I've already acknowledged some people have what are, for them, valid reasons. No need to bash me for not understanding this. )

Maybe I am totally misremembering things but as I remember it has been well known from the beginning that links inside html documents does not work.

My beliefs are hard earned, you won't be seeing any crumbling in this corner.

I already know you acknowledge cybook imperfections. You hate having to, but you're too honest to lie about them when you are aware of them. (Which I happen to like and respect in you.) I was just picking on you earlier.

I'd thought I had heard that internal links had been fixed. But then, as soon as Bookeen had gotten the firmware updated enough to allow Secure Mobipocket ebooks to open, I switched from HTML and never looked back.

I have created one book from multiple html files. The links within the book all work perfectly. I can navigate from one chapter to another or from any link to its TARGET attribute within the book. I had to delete links to files with targets I did not include within the book, because links to other books or files do not work.

I must test this tonight. I had one html file with internal links on the device were the links did not work. Do you have the old or new firmware?

Do you mean that you've created a MOBIPOCKET book from multiple HTML files? Nobody's disputing that that links work in Mobi-format books; what we're talking about is reading HTML files directly on the Gen3.

Yep. If you just drag and drop the html file into desktop reader it'll automatically convert and the links will work in the resulting prc file.

Susan,

If you mean you've used Mobi Reader or BookDesigner to create a monolithic file, great. However, it's not clear whether the resultant file is a mobi/prc or a single-file html. If it's the latter, could you zip up one that you've converted and email it to me? Even better, could you do a step-by-step tutorial for all of us? I think what the OP was complaining about was attempting to make a single-file html work - as an HTML file. I've posted samples of how mine didn't work.

Yep! That's what I did! I created a MOBIPOCKET book from multiple HTML files. It is the only way to get the links internal to one book.

That's what we thought you meant. I believe the OP did not want to convert his monolithic or multi-file HTML ebooks into mobi/prc. Of course, whether one uses Mobigen, your method or Mobipocket Creator or even BookDesigner, the resulting mobi/prc file works fine on the Cybook.
