The internal name that the code references to activate specific features is entirely irrelevant, the program's street name is still calibre.

The name matters because its an executable program that can be invoked from the command line or from within a file manager etc

The executable is named to match the rest of calibre's executables, as Katsunami pointed out. Of course, most people should use it from within calibre and therefore never see the executable name at all.

As far as the aesthetics of the name goes, that's a non-issue.

Then why not be precise with "ebook-edit"? At this point, that's what it is. It does a lot more than "tweak" implies.

Because the feature is called Tweak Book in calibre, where it replaces the original Tweak Book functionality.

I suppose it would be possible to change it to Edit Book in both places, let me think about it.

IMHO Tweak = Touchup
Edit = Major surgery

No. You can do it, but there are more efficient tools.

I consider it a very capable Tweaker, but there may be better editors for book creation (thesaurus, Table tools... Page layout Templates. Ask Hitch )

Of course there are better editors for book creation, the jump from Edit Book to Book Creator is huge. No one is suggesting it be called Book Creator. It is what it is a tool to Edit a Book.

I renamed the feature inside calibre to "Edit Book" and the executable to ebook-edit
