This is a followup to my earlier post about not being able to buy an Aura online. I wrote Kobo and got a reply back in today's email. It suggests I try creating a new account and try again.

Before I did that I decided to check with the Indie store locally one last time. They said they have Auras on order and expect to receive them by the end of the month. It seems the Indie stores in the US are having no better luck getting Auras than we are. Fortunately I wasn't counting on buying it for Christmas, so I decided to give them a chance and wait a few more weeks. I'll try GreenLight if it isn't available by the start of next year.

While I have a functioning Nook Simple Touch I decided to bite the bullet a purchase a Kobo Aura now that it's $20 off. Unfortunately, the website won't let me buy it in black. You can get a black on in Canada but not in the U.S. I under no circumstances want a pink one and without the $20 off coupon it's just not worth it to me since my Nook works just fine. Even if they didn't have the black ones in stock I would be willing to wait for it. I see no reason why they wouldn't have the product available for purchase unless they're discontinuing the line. When Apple and Amazon run out of stock they still let you order the item they just push back the estimated shipping date. It's very frustrating that Kobo decided to take away the option.

Hi everyone, just now I ordered Kobo Aura HD through Kobo website. Eurekhaa..... I had the same issues which you all had faced for past few days. Today the only thing different I tried was I cleared the cache and cookies in the Chrome browser before placing the order. I also got a confirmation mail from Kobo.

Or may be they may have fixed it now after all your complains

Just in case you didn't know - only the back is pink (and a pleasant hot pink, not a icky baby pink). The front bezel is black. So in a case, you wouldn't know the difference.

Aura HD

I bought one at an indigo store last weekend. The battery will not hold a charge. Shut it down at 75% and it's at zero in the morning. I can't even find the customer service phone number on the website anymore. I know their customer service can be bad but now they don't even allow you to phone?

Anyway, it's going back tomorrow. I have bought 3 kobos over the years and 2 have been returned. I'm done with them.

Do you not see "Contact Customer Care" in aqua near the bottom right at that link? To the right of the "Ask" button?

Googling:
kobo phone contact
also takes me straight to the page of phone numbers, link number one.

Meeera, I do see that link but it takes me to a form for an email help request not the phone numbers. I will try on a different device but I was always able to find the number before.

Meeera on my laptop using Firefox same issue. At the Ask area, choosing Customer Care takes me to a fill in form with another question, how would you like to contract us, when I choose Phone, it take me back to the form.

Tried google as you suggest, takes me to this http://kobocanada.ca/Contact-Us.php which helps.

Add me to the sorry crowd. I've been trying to order an Aura HD. I've tried Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and IE10. I have tried clearing the cache and removing cookies, I have created a new account, etc, etc. Always got the spinning wheel until yesterday, when I got a notice that the credit card had been refused. Called Visa, and they said, no problem, purchase of 149.99 just went through. Sent an email to Kobo and this morning got a cheery "Yes, your order went through just fine and your Mini and it's sleep cover are on the way!" Fortunately, Visa had given me the phone number and I called Customer Care. Ispent som time talking with them and they said, not to worry, the order for the Mini will be cancelled and I'd get an email to that effect. I got the email. My order for the Glo (not the Mini and sleepcover) has been reversed....

I'm beginning to think that I'm not going to get an Aura HD ever. I should have remembered that when I got the Mini I went through this too. I really wanted the larger screen and the card slot, and the higher definition would have been nice.

This fiasco worked out for the best (for me!). Ordered from Greenlight bookstore, they shipped it same day, and got it next day. Kept me up to date on the shipping process and sent tracking info. She even wrapped the Aura HD box in gift wrapping and topped it off with a ribbon (even though I didn't request it).

I strongly recommend those who are having this issue to just buy it from the indie bookstores (local or otherwise). Even if you can place the order with Kobo, even if they get it right, you're still going to have to wait 7-10 days just to get it (assuming they ship promptly). Best to just avoid the hassle altogether!

Apparently I can buy Kobo ebooks and Greenlight will receive a cut. I was advised to set up a new account through the HD and then request that Kobo merge it with the current one into a new account.

Which is awesome, because I've loved so many different indie bookstores - they have cats and smell so great and always know where to get the best diner food.
