Yes, because it's just text. I have yet to see a tool that can convert PDF to rtf that actually displays correctly on a reader. I used the Able convertor https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22547 which created a perfect .rtf but when I viewed that on the Sony for some reason it wasn't perfect because the line feed's were no longer at the end of the page.

As an example of a PDF that cannot be converted without manual help is the recently free (now no longer free) book Infected. It has different fonts to specify certain characters speaking and no conversion will get that right. So you have to go through the PDF with the converted file and fix it up by hand.

But seriously, PDF can be a bitch to convert without broken paragraphs, joined paragraphs, run on words, and other anomalies.

I do not know of a single program that will extract from a PDF without a single error and that includes Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Just to clear something up. The PRS500 does NOT support 4GB SD-cards (non-SDHC) AND it does NOT support 4GB memory stick. Both will fail after 2GB, the PRS505 however DOES support 4GB non-SDHC card. I have a transcend 4GB card and have filled it up with manga in combination with a 4GB memory stick, totalling 8GB worth of manga and comics.
