My reader would hit a brick wall at reader-shattering velocity if it would ever display ads or nags while reading.

utterly ignored. except now it pops up without even showing the last page :P

What about building in a button or setting to delete the documents/{book}.sdr/EndActions.data.{ASIN}.asc file? At least on my KT if I delete these it no longer pester me. This file DOES hold the data for that popup and I guess when it is gone, the Kindle's endaction software think it is a sideloaded book. (Which after calibre, it technically is.) I don't actually have a KPW to see if it works the same there, but I definitely am not getting ANY popups on the KT.

Right now I just do "rm /media/Kindle/documents/*.sdr/EndActions.data.*.asc"

Just make a button/shortcut to run "rm /mnt/us/documents/*.sdr/EndActions.data.*.asc".

This won't be as good as just turning off the EndActions altogether, but if you can't get that working...

After the 3.4 firmware update my K3 also started showing this nag screen for some side-loaded books after reaching the end of the book.

Amazon has really become proactive, and annoying, in soliciting reviews via email too. Almost every day I get at least one email from them asking me to review an item I purchased or to answer a question another reviewer or prospective customer has posted. Amazon is a retail megacorp, so I guess we should expect this, even if we hate it. From what I hear the Fire HDX is basically just a big advertisement with "Buy Me" buttons popping up everywhere. It is like having your very own portable billboard that follows you everywhere begging you to purchase stuff. That is good reason to buy a non-Amazon tablet, IMO.

Yes, I'm seeing this more and more. But, to be fair, it's not just Amazon. The majority of on-line retailers seem to be doing it.

A couple of weeks ago, I bought some light bulbs on line. Since then, the merchant has emailed me three times to ask for a review. For goodness sake: how do you review a light bulb.

LOL! I hear you. I occasionally buy software directly from the developer/company, especially astrophotography software and image processing software add-ons. These companies are always trying to solicit reviews and peddle more software. That why the Junk mailbox was invented!

What I find even more annoying than emails is when I have bought something online from a company once, they then regularly send me sale catalogues in the post. I remove the wrapper and dump them straight in the recycling bin. If I wanted to buy from them in future, I'd do it via their website, just like I did first time round. Sending me a physical catalogue in the mail is just irritating me as it's a complete waste!

Okay. so update:

Actually, I finished another book last night and DIDN'T get the popup. Which leads me to believe that maybe it does work but only for titles that have never previously "made it to the end", so I will look to implement a blend of both Ixtab's and eschwartz's work at some point RSN.
