98-99%. Really. I've read nearly 180 books this year, and only two of them have been in paper.

I voted 100%, but the truth is probably more like 99.5%. Since getting my first e-reader I've read two paper books halfway through before switching over to the ebook version. Other than that it's been all ebooks, and that's the way I like it.

100% ebook. I don't buy paper anymore, nor do I read it (and there are several books I'd like to read but won't because they're not in electronic form...)

ebooks in the high 90%. I buy the occasional cook book and I borrow the occasional paper book from the library. But those will get less and less as its just harder for me to read. And those have to be trade paper so the size is large enough for me to read. Font that is.
I did buy a couple of used out of print books, but I can't read them. I bought them for sentimental reasons and so I can ruefully look at them while waiting for a kindle copy. Not much chance there after all these years. eta: Just wanted to add that to me ebooks "are" books. I buy way more books now that I read ebooks than I ever did. So the title of the thread is a bit odd. A book is a book is a book. Last edited by Atunah; 11-13-2013 at 10:00 AM. |

I estimate 77-99% ebook. I have many paper books that I don't want to repurchase at full price, or don't exist as ebooks, or are done poorly as ebooks.

Availability and cost still keep me buying some paper. Of the books I buy, though most are electronic, some are paper, although next year I'll be buying more paper as the costs are better for what I've decided to read.
Purchased books: 16 electronic, 6 paper 73% Read books: 18 electronic, 47 paper 38% Next year looks like: Purchased: 1 electronic, 7 paper Over the last three years, the reading has been 32% electronic. I would estimate that next year will look something like: Purchased books: 5 electronic, 10 paper Read Books: 5 electronic, 55 paper |

If it had been books I buy, it would be pretty much 100%. But I borrow extensively from the public library, so it drops to about 50-50.

About 95% I just run into pbooks. Last night, I was at a fundraising meeting at our library, and saw Bleeding Edge, by Thomas Pynchon. Didn't hear anything about it, but it looked interesting, so I checked it out. Same thing with strolling along the book tables at Costco. They just jump in my cart.

Almost all of the books that I read are digital these days aside from reference books like Linux Essentials or Python in a Nutshell, and heavily illustrated or large format books (like coffee table books).
Also, pretty much all of the manga that I read is still printed, although I have found reading it fairly impressive on my Nexus 7, so I might transition those eventually. |

100% for me. I haven't read any paper books in well over a year now, probably closer to two years. I have flipped through a few paper books, but they are from my existing non-fiction / reference library, and it wasn't reading, just looking something up.

Definitely 90+% ebooks for me as well. The only pbooks I buy anymore are either unavailable as ebooks, or artsy full page colour spread style picture books. Of course I still have hundreds of pbooks still, I just don't buy any new ones.
