my favorite headset is the LG headset. I have this older model that some people say is better than the newer model:
http://www.amazon.com/LG-Wireless-Bl...cm_cr-mr-title I use just one of the earpieces normally for my audiobooks. My FedEx driver has the same headset so you know it works well for driving. Last edited by Mobert; 11-15-2013 at 05:54 PM. |

I picked up a Jabra Clear when I was at the Apple store over the weekend.... It's pretty nice. It has an ear hook, so it won't fall off. The hook is kinda cheaply made, and pretty stiff, so I hope it lasts a while. It doesn't go into the ear canal, so it is comfortable to wear.
I wish it were louder. It's not bad while just walking down the street, but if I'm walking next to a city bus or a large truck, it is difficult to hear. The exterior of the unit is like a large button, and if you tap it, it will tell you if it is connected or not. All well and nice, except when I put my hat on (it's getting cold out there) it taps it. *connected!* I've been using it for the past two days, while walking to the gym, and while running on the treadmill. So far, so good. |

I've an old plantronics m50 headset that sounds to be just about what you want fits in one ear and sends all sounds over the bluetooth to it, I used to use it for similar purposes even watching videos I'm using full bluetooth headphones these days though.
The one thing that might foil your plan is Apple themselves I do know back when I owned an ipod touch 3rd gen they purposefully left out some bluetooth profiles from the device itself (iphone had them ipod didn't) my guess was to help them sell their earphones and more iphones. I'm not sure if it's changed now but I think it's unlikely the mic and any controls would work I still think you could use one solely for listening to audio though. |

Not Bluetooth but...
I use an FBI style headset for my audio books. It's perfect for driving, working, walking, or anything else your doing when you want to listen. I have the listen only style but they do have a 2 way version for answering the phone ect.

I use a tiny bluetooth earbud to listen to books at home. It's great as I do not like dealing with wires while doing chores. But the technology is still pretty limited and there's plenty of room for improvement. I use it at home only because when I use it outdoors, I don't know why, but the earbud cuts out far too often for my liking. The battery duration has dwindled from about 5 hours to less than 3. The bluetooth range extends only about 15 feet. I usually clip my phone to my clothes and keep it close. I can't wear outdoors and in public transportation as I get distracted with my free ear taking in all the noise. Outside of home, I use regular wired earphones and use a volume level which allows me to be aware of my surroundings. All in all, the earphone is good for a couple of hours of audiobooks each evening as I do chores.
I have a cheap alternative for wired one bud earphones. I take free crappy earphones (like the ones given on international flights) and cut off one wire/earphone. Voila! These come in handy occasionally. Like when my bluetooth battery runs out and even though I have to deal with one wired earphone--it's better than dealing with two. It's also worked when I'm driving and I need to hear my phone for directions but I don't want to/can't connect it to the car's system. If I use my regular earphones, I have one unused hanging earbud annoying me. |

I have had numerous (lower end) Plantronics (under $40) earpieces.
The range is ~30 feet. Far enough to get across the house to the kitchen Coffee pot and get reminded 'The phone is ![]() 5-6 hours is the estimated (voice announcement) when I turn it on |

I've an old plantronics single ear headset that works like that (M50) and while it works ok and actually does turn stereo sound to mono I haven't used it even once in months. It's just not that loud and instead I've been using a Samsung HS3000 headset (stereo and works with standard headphones) for nearly everything for a while.
I wouldn't recommend it just based on the loudness and again as it's already been pointed out only some of the earpieces support general media audio. Also be careful of iPods as I used to have a Touch 3rd gen and I know it didn't work right with almost any type of bluetooth with button controls although generally audio would play. |

A few months ago I decided to get a pair of bluetooth headphones instead of the single ear headset, and went with these:
![]() 66 Audio BTS+ Bluetooth Sports Headphone They fit well, have good volume, and the battery life so far is excellent. They claim 20 hours, I generally charge them once per week and use them three times per week at the gym, for perhaps five hours total. You can use them to answer calls, I haven't done that. At $47, they are reasonably priced. |

I use these:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00RKZNS9...ds=tao+tronics Absolutely love them as they are very unintrusive. Just wear them and forget about them. You have the option of using just one earpiece if you are worried about the sounds around you or local laws prohibit blocking both ears. |

I would love to find a good inexpensive set of Bluetooth earphones for doing housework around the apartment. I listen to alot of audio and video books on my LG Volt.

![]() Oh! Please specify which style of earphones: On the Ear, Over the ear or In the ear. But I see you want to use it with a phone equipped device. You need a Mic and answer button. (things were so much simpler when devices just did one task. To paraphrase a customer: 'I just want to make a CALL' ) |
